1. Contact Us
Pediatric Therapy Specialists understands that this may be a confusing time. We know that finding the right therapist and clinic can be frustrating and tedious. We want to make sure this process is smooth and seamless from the first time you visit our clinic. Below we have provided you with a better understanding of the process of getting your child into treatment with Pediatric Therapy Specialists.
2. Benefit Check / Financial Responsibility
With all the changes happening in healthcare and insurance, we at Pediatric Therapy Specialists understand that this can be a very confusing and frustrating part of your child’s treatment. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff is here to help explain and guide you through this process. We will obtain your insurance information and verify benefits prior to starting services. Once benefits have been verified we will contact you to discuss your financial responsibility. We participate with all major private insurance companies. We offer competitive self-pay rates also, if you do not have insurance coverage, or choose not to use your insurance benefits. If an authorization needs to be obtained, we will do so prior to beginning therapy.
3. Complete New Patient Paperwork / Any Necessary Assessment/Physician Referral
Once we have discussed your financial responsibility and you have chosen to schedule an evaluation, there are a few forms and assessments that will need to be completed for the evaluating therapist. These forms and assessments will allow the therapist to understand your child’s needs from your point of view and allow them insightful information about your child’s strengths and weaknesses. Please fill out and submit the following forms:
Our staff member will also conduct an in-depth phone interview to obtain information about your child's medical history. This intake interview must be done prior to the evaluation. A physician referral from the referring physician is required before the evaluation.
4. Schedule Evaluation
When all paperwork and physician referral has been received and reviewed, we will schedule an evaluation. This one-hour evaluation will provide comprehensive testing consisting of various age-appropriate activities including visual motor testing, balancing skills, and fine-motor activities. Our open gym allows for a fun and engaging environment so your therapist can observe your child’s activities.
5. Schedule Treatment
Once the evaluation is complete, we will schedule treatment. We offer flexible scheduling. We can begin therapy as soon possible, per your convenience. Your child will have the same weekly appointment time. Consistency is key when it comes to making progress in therapy, so it might take some time to schedule the right time for your family.
We are always accepting new patients and look forward to helping you and your family in your therapy goals!
